Frequently asked questions
The short version of how BlockStorm works. Still stuck? Email support.
Is the free tier really free?
Yes — the local firewall is fully functional forever, no credit card. Free accounts also receive the community blocklist on a 15-day delay. You only pay if you want the blocklist in real time (Premium) or more site activations (Agency).
What's the difference between the free and premium blocklist?
It's the same crowdsourced blocklist, time-shifted. Free sites see decisions as they stood 15 days ago; premium sites receive new attacker IPs within minutes of the first report. Yesterday's attackers are still worth blocking, but fresh threats are stopped fresh on Premium.
How does the community blocklist work?
When enough independent premium sites report the same attacking IP, it's promoted to a shared decision and pushed to every site's local cache. One site getting attacked protects all the others — no single site can blocklist an IP on its own, which keeps the feed trustworthy.
What data leaves my site?
Only if you opt in to contributing. Contributed signals are limited to the attacker's IP, the scenario name, and a timestamp — never your visitors' data, your content, or anything that identifies your site. See the Privacy page for detail.
Do I need to change my DNS or nameservers?
No. BlockStorm is a WordPress plugin — install it, paste your key, done. Blocking happens inside your own server, before WordPress fully loads, with no per-request cloud round-trips.
How is billing handled?
Paid plans are prepaid terms billed quarterly or annually via Waychit. Nothing auto-renews — when a term ends, you simply drop back to the free tier until you choose to pay again.
Will it block me or my logged-in admins?
No. Authenticated administrators are never blocked, and your own wp-admin browsing is never logged as an attack. The firewall protects the logged-out surface where attackers live.
